Church Building Masterclass
This masterclass from Storyland Studios, PlainJoe Studios, and The Unstuck Group walks through the full church building process.

Architecture, storytelling, generosity strategy, financing, interior design, and technical systems must work together for a project to succeed.

As the AVLA panel expert, I explain how early technical planning protects the project from unnecessary cost, compromised performance, and avoidable rework.

Why This Matters
Church building projects succeed when architecture, ministry strategy, financing, and technical systems are planned together from the beginning.

Unlike many other building types, churches are rarely repeatable projects. Every congregation, community, and ministry model is different. While best practices can be shared, simply copying another church’s building or production model often leads to spaces that do not fully serve the people they were built for.

The healthiest projects begin with a clear understanding of the mission, the community being served, and the experience the church hopes to create. From there, architecture, interiors, and AVLA systems can be designed to support that unique vision rather than forcing a congregation into someone else’s model.
